Creative Designer, Google Web Stories (Part-Time, Remote)

Wondering what Google Web Stories are? In a nutshell, Google Web Stories are short, slideshow-style visuals, similar to Instagram or Facebook stories.

WORKING HOURS: Part-time on a flexible predetermined schedule (preference for those whose availability includes either Saturday or Sunday).

We are looking for a creative designer to join our team to produce high-quality Google Web Stories for our suite of sites and for our B2B clients.

Think of Stories as a series of quick images or videos that a user can flip through and, tell the story you want to tell. When it’s over, there’s a little Call to Action (CTA) that can encourage audiences to visit the site for additional information.

This is a remote-work opportunity. You will be working closely with and reporting to an individual who is currently located in Edmonton, Canada.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Liaise with the Digital Marketing team to translate and create existing website content/blog posts into compelling Google Web Stories.
  • Create Web Stories by making use of Google’s free Web Story plugin/editor for WordPress.
    The editor makes use of a drag-and-drop interface with templates to help get you started. Google has some documentation on the plugin to get you set up for success.
  • Perform other related specific or ad-hoc duties to be assigned from time to time
NOTE:
  • You will be given resources to assist you along the way, but a lot of your work will need to be self-guided.
  • Your creative will be published under a pseudonym (e.g. using a website’s name). Therefore, you will not be specifically credited nor will your creatives be attributable to you.
  • PAID TRIAL Before Commencing: Before you start, we’ll give you a paid trial work to ensure that you have the competencies we require. From there, we’ll be looking to have you join the team for the long-term on a part-time basis.


WHAT YOU MUST HAVE (Please do NOT apply if you do not meet the following requirements):

Job Requirements:
  • 1+ years of relevant creative experience.
  • Must be familiar with Google Web Stories and basic processes around it.
  • Strong technical skills and proven ability to use a variety of software including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and others.
  • Interest in long-term work should your paid trial be successful.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Great work ethics to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.

Hardware Requirements:
  • Computer Requirement: As this is a remote-work opportunity, you are expected to have your own personal computer to get the job done.
  • Internet Requirements: As you have to be constantly connected to the team through digital tools, you must have your own high-speed/reliable internet (wifi connection).
  • Phone Requirements: Similarly, you are expected to have a functioning mobile phone with WhatsApp capabilities and should be reachable by phone during an agreed predetermined time.

NICE TO HAVE (Not Compulsory)

  • A diploma, certification, or degree in digital design, graphic design, graphic communications or related field.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics and video creation.
  • Experience using self-hosted WordPress (i.e. wordpress.org) will be a major plus.

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

  • Remuneration: You will be paid (bi-weekly or monthly) based on the number of Google Web Stories you are able to make. The budget for this role is currently ₦40,000 – ₦100,000 per month.
  • Bonus: Up to 20% bonus paid every 6 months for milestone achievements (per self-evaluation and our assessment).
  • The opportunity to work from anywhere. As this is a remote-work opportunity. You will have the flexibility and freedom to work from your own home or from anywhere, as long as you can keep in touch with digital tools such as Whatsapp, Google Meet, etc.
